Strawberry Mountain Sampler
Experience Oregon’s Wild West
DAY 1: We’ll depart Prairie City along a quiet country lane. After a fairly flat 12 miles we’ll enter a narrow valley filled with pine, fir and larch trees. From here we begin our gradual climb into the mountains. As you climb you will have outstanding views of the John Day Valley below. For the next two days you will be surrounded by majestic Ponderosa Pines and solitude. After a delicious dinner prepared by your guides you can relax and watch the night sky unfold. Today’s mileage is 29 miles.
DAY 2: After a hearty breakfast we continue our travels along the south flank of the Strawberry Mountain Range. We pass through the expansive Summit Prairie and Logan Valley on our travels keeping our eyes out for antelope. Today there will probably be more bikes than cars on the road. Our mileage for the day will be 30 miles.
DAY 3: Today we return to the John Day Valley but not before we enjoy a 15 mile descent. Today’s perspective of the Strawberry Mountain Range will be from the West. After passing through the only street light in the county we will steer our bikes back to Prairie City for an easy 13 mile ride. Total mileage for the day is 31 miles.
