Oregon Sampler Tour
Sample Oregon's Finest
DAY 1: After a delicious breakfast we’ll leave Eugene via a winding bike path that follows the Willamette River downstream. Today’s ride will be flat and smooth as we travel through Oregon’s agricultural heartland. We’ll be sure to stop at a local fruit stand to pick up some fresh fruit for a mid morning snack along with a cold ice cream. Today’s mileage will be an easy 43 miles. Dinner is on your own tonight. There are many great dining options in Corvallis.
DAY 2: Following a good night's rest we begin our ride through the Coast Range to the Pacific Ocean. Our tour takes us over Alsea Pass (1,200 ft.) With this 900+ ft. climb we earn a fun downhill. From the pass we follow the Alsea River to our village on the coast, Yachats. As we travel along the flora and fauna of the region’s temperate rainforest will grab your attention. From your ocean front room you can watch the sun set over the Pacific. Today’s mileage is 73 miles.
DAY 3: Today we experience the rugged beauty of the coast. Have your camera ready! We’ll travel past the Devil’s Churn, Cape Perpetua, Heceta Head Lighthouse, and other spectacular sights on our ride to the historic village of Florence. If luck is with us we should see seals sunning themselves on the rugged rocks and whales migrating along the coast. Although today’s mileage is only 26 miles it will be full of great sights and sounds.
DAY 4: Today we leave the ocean for the pastoral Willamette Valley. We follow the Siuslaw River as we climb into the Coast Range. We’ll stop for lunch along side one of Oregon’s historic covered bridges that crosses the Siuslaw River. Following lunch we begin the gradual climb, about 350 ft, to Cougar Pass (769 ft.). After the pass we descend into the Willamette Valley. We return to Eugene in mid afternoon with a much better appreciation of Oregon’s beauty. Today’s mileage is 68 miles.
